"As Reacher continues to have a profound impact on our global customers, expanding on the storytelling and characters with a spinoff was an easy decision," Amazon MGM executive Vernon Sanders said in a statement. "With Nick and Nicholas as well as our partners Skydance and CBS Studios, we're confident this new chapter, starring the amazing Maria Sten, will not only honor the Reacher legacy but also bring fresh energy and excitement to new and longtime fans alike."

Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton created and executive produced the untitled Reacher spinoff, which is based on Lee Child's Jack Reacher novel series. Frances Neagley was initially presented as one of Jack Reacher's old colleagues in the Army's 110th Special Investigations Unit. In the spinoff, she will work as a private investigator in Chicago. Executive producers include Child, Don Granger, Lisa Kussner, David Ellison, Goldberg, and Matt Thunell. It is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios.

"When Frances Neagley learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice," according to the plot summary. "Using everything she's learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil."
